How will I know how my embryos are developing?
Your team will call with updates on Day 1 (fertilisation), Day 3 (cleavage), and Day 5 (blastocyst). You can also ask at any point

IVF Process & Science
After egg retrieval, everything happens in our embryology lab, where conditions are carefully controlled to closely mimic your body and support optimal embryo developme
Conventional IVF involves mixing washed and concentrated sperm in a dish along with the eggs, where they naturally fertilise the eggs during overnight incubation. In IVF, the presence of two pronuclei in the egg (2PN) the following morning confirms fertilisation. IVF is usually performed when sperm parameters are satisfactory.
ICSI, in contrast, entails the introduction of one sperm cell per egg with the help of micromanipulation techniques involving a microscopic needle. The application of ICSI is recommended if there are few sperms, low sperm motility or sperm morphology, repeated fertilization failure using conventional IVF techniques, and surgical sperms (PESA/TESA). At Pluro, our embryologists select the best individual sperms using high magnification microscopy.
Day 1: Fertilisation confirmed. Days 2–3: Embryo divides to 4–8 cells (cleavage stage). Day 5: The best embryos reach blastocyst stage, a 100+ cell structure with a defined inner cell mass (future baby) and outer trophectoderm (future placenta). Pluro waits until Day 5 because blastocysts have higher implantation rates and allow AI-assisted grading to identify the strongest embryo.
Q: How will I know how my embryos are developing?
A: Your team will call with updates on Day 1 (fertilisation), Day 3 (cleavage), and Day 5 (blastocyst). You can also ask at any point.
Q: What is Time-Lapse Monitoring?
A: Some centres use time-lapse incubators (such as Embryoscope) that photograph embryos every few minutes without removing them from incubation. This gives embryologists more data to select the best embryo. Ask if this is available at your clinic. Such type of traditional way of embryo selection has equivalent results as compare to Embryoscope.
Q: Are there risks to ICSI that standard IVF does not have?
A:ICSI eliminates the natural process of sperm selection. However, theoretically, this procedure may pose some increased risks of genetic diseases. The results, however, in practice show that these are comparable for most people. Your physician will advise you about this possibility, if applicable.
